Online harassment is on the rise. This time the victim is a woman from Gujarat. A Delhi youth has been accused of using AI to distort Gujarati women’s photos and videos on Instagram.

The accused posted mutilated pictures and videos of the woman’s mother on social media. Ahmedabad police arrested the youth.

According to police sources, 27-year-old Sumit Nemchand Sharma had made a religious video on social media. He was a priest by profession. The accused first started talking to the Gujarati woman on Instagram about religious issues. When he later tries to be friends, the woman refuses.

Then began the attempt to take revenge. The young man started harassing the woman by sending repeated messages. But when the woman did not respond, the accused took another route.

From December 2025 to April 2026, he continued to stalk and harass the woman online. The youth downloaded pictures of the woman and her mother from Instagram and used AI Remove Cloth to create more than 100 fake nude photos and videos on the internet and posted them on social media.

Police also said that fake Instagram accounts and YouTube channels were created using the woman’s name and picture and uploaded obscene pictures and videos. Investigation revealed that the accused had created a total of 8-10 fake accounts on social media. The young man’s intention was to defame and harass the woman and her family.

When the woman filed a complaint against the youth at the cyber crime branch in Ahmedabad, the cyber crime team tracked down the accused from Osmanpur area in northeast Delhi through digital tracking and arrested him from there.

Ahmedabad Police launched ‘Mission Cyber ​​Rakshika: #SecureHerSpace’ to combat online cyber crime. Ahmedabad police is investigating the incident. It is basically an attempt to ensure the safety of women online. A case has been registered against the accused under various sections of Information Technology Act and Indian Penal Code.
