A high-level delegation of the European Union will visit Assam on June 8 and the main objective of the visit is to enhance cooperation between the European state and India’s Northeast. The joint agenda that was adopted at the EU-India summit last JanuaryThe itinerary is based on that. The team will consist of ambassadors and senior representatives of EU member states. The delegation will be led by EU Ambassador to India and Bhutan Harvey Delfin and various European business representatives.
During their visit, the delegation will hold a bilateral meeting with Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma. The business delegation led by Federation of European Business in India (FEBI) will also discuss trade and investment prospects with state government officials. The tour will focus on renewable and green energy, sustainable urban infrastructure, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, tea and food processing, perfumes and ayuth sectors. On June 9, a special workshop called Blue Valley will bring together European and Indian businesses to explore partnerships in sustainable industries and innovation.

As an important part of the tour, a new industrial hub named Blue Valley Cluster will be inaugurated for the first time in Assam.‘B. The centre, which will be a public-private partnership, will work in the fragrance, food processing and AYUSH sectors. It will enhance research, innovation and sustainable manufacturing by connecting Europe, Northeast India and Bhutan. The pilot project is in line with the Blue Valley scheme announced at the 2026 EU-India Summit. This will benefit local communities and enable SMEs to connect to European markets.
EU Ambassador to India Harvey Delfin said the economic potential of North East India and especially Assam is huge. There is no shortage of skilled workers and the region is one of the fastest growing in the country. Projects like Blue Valley will build long-term business relationships between Europe and India. During the visit to Assam, the delegation will also visit the new semiconductor project of Tata Electronics. This will give European investors a clear idea of the business environment and infrastructure of Assam. The tour is expected to usher in a new chapter between Europe and India.
