In a statement issued on Wednesday, May 20, AASU president Utpal Sarma said that the continuous increase in prices has severely affected common people and made daily life increasingly difficult.
“The markets are on fire; the people are suffering badly. Both governments have failed to control prices. Agitation has become inevitable,” the student body leader said.
Sarma stated that the protest demonstrations would be organised across Assam demanding immediate measures to reduce prices and provide relief to the public.
The leader further alleged that the unchecked price rise has placed a heavy burden on households and warned that public resentment over inflation continues to grow across the state.
