The producer described the journey of the film, co-produced with Tanuja P Roy under the banner PKR Films, as an important milestone. The film stars budding child actress Kabisha Mohanty as the lead character ‘Lakhi’, who is deprived of her mother’s affection since childhood and lives through a deep emotional conflict. The film also stars Neelim Chetia, Anisha Hazarika, Arun Hazarika and Ananya Hazarika in other important roles.
According to the story, Lakhi, who lost his mother after birth, grew up struggling with loneliness and mental confusion. He constantly tries to fill that emotional void by painting an imaginary picture of his mother in his mind. Her father Vishnu (Neelim Chetia) tries to give his daughter full emotional support but is unable to break through Lakshmi’s wall of silence and intrusion. Meanwhile, Vishnu approaches another woman, who helps him in his personal struggle. They both dream of a future together but circumstances complicate their relationship, which Lakshi is completely unaware of. ‘Akutty’ beautifully explores grief, longing and the fragile relationship between father and daughter as well as the silent attempt to rebuild life amid emotional uncertainty.
