The protesters marched with symbolic petrol pump cut-outs and raised slogans against the Centre, accusing the government of failing to control fuel prices and inflation. Demonstrators claimed the continuous price rise has severely affected the daily lives of common people.

Among the key demands raised during the protest were an immediate rollback of petrol, diesel, and LPG price hikes and urgent government measures to ease the financial burden on citizens.

Speaking to GPlus, the General Secretary of All Kamrup (Metro) District Students’ Union, Samiran Kalita alleged that “wrong government policies and lack of market control” have pushed ordinary people into hardship.

Kalita further warned that if the government fails to curb the “abnormal rise” in fuel prices, the student body would intensify its agitation in the coming days. Hundreds of students and office bearers reportedly took part in the demonstration.
