Rajshree Roy of Assam’s Sribhumi district has created history by successfully climbing Mt. Rank at an altitude of 5,030 meters or about 16,500 feet. He is the first cadet of 4th Assam Battalion NCC at Sribhoomi to conquer the peak. He achieved this remarkable feat by reaching the final destination of the peak around 10:30 in the morning of May.
Rajshree completed the adventure despite the challenges of inclement weather and inaccessible mountain roads, battalion officials said. According to reports, he suffered some injuries during the climb due to extreme cold. However, with his unwavering spirit and concentration, he continued his journey and finally reached his final destination. 4 Assam Battalion NCC officials said his success reflects the extraordinary courage, discipline, physical fitness and mental determination developed through rigorous training in the NCC.
Describing the achievement as a historic milestone, the battalion noted that the tenacity, leadership ability and endurance displayed by Rajshri in such extreme highland conditions is truly admirable. The officers further opined that Rajshree Roy’s achievement will bring pride to the entire battalion and inspire other cadets to participate in such challenging missions with dedication and confidence in future.
