GUWAHATI: A violent incident in Nagura village under Jamuguri in Assam’s Golaghat district left four members of a family seriously injured after they were attacked with a sharp weapon during the wee hours of Wednesday, June 3.
The accused has been identified as Rituparna Hazarika, who allegedly carried out the assault following a dispute related to a bhaona performance at a local namghar. The altercation reportedly escalated into violence after an argument with Bitul Dutta and Bijon Krishna Dutta.
Bitul Dutta, Ilamani Saikia, Bijon Krishna Dutta, and Kamalakshi Saikia sustained serious injuries during the attack.
Speaking to GPlus, an official from Jamuguri Police Station said, “The accused has been arrested in connection with the case and further investigation is underway.”
