GUWAHATI: Lakkhipriya Road in Satgaon has been in poor condition for a long time, causing difficulties for daily commuters and emergency services in the area.

The road was filled with mud and waterlogging, making it difficult for ambulances, fire service vehicles, and commuters to pass through. Residents said the condition could delay emergency response during medical or fire-related incidents.

Locals also reported that delivery vehicles were unable to enter the area, and many residents could not take out their own vehicles due to the damaged road. The stagnant water had also created unhygienic conditions for pedestrians, including senior citizens and school students.

Residents further said that although a footpath was constructed last year, the main road was not repaired. They added that the road was dug up in February for development work, but the project was left incomplete.

However, after the GPlus report, the authorities have begun repair work on the road. Earlier, while speaking to GPlus, the councillor of Ward No. 58 had said, “The road construction work has been underway for the past few days.” However, according to residents on Friday, May 22, the work actually began only after the GPlus report was published on May 19.

Speaking to GPlus, a resident said the improvement of the road would now bring relief to locals, as daily commuting had earlier become extremely difficult. “Now, it will be much easier for us to travel,” the resident added.
