According to locals, the leakage continues daily from around 10 am to 4 pm, resulting in large-scale wastage of water.

Locals alleged that while the rest of Guwahati faces water scarcity, thousands of litres of water continue to be wasted due to the unrepaired leakage at Ganeshguri.

Speaking to GPlus, an official from the Jal Board said repair work has been delayed as the department is yet to receive permission from the Public Works Department (PWD) to excavate the road at the affected site.

“We have not yet received permission from the PWD to excavate the road. Once the clearance is granted, the leakage repair work will be carried out immediately,” the official told GPlus.

Residents have urged the authorities to begin repair work at the earliest to prevent further wastage of water.
