Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s son and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi sent an emotional message on his 35th death anniversary. Rahul Gandhi visited Delhi’s Veer Bhoomi on Thursday and laid flowers at Baba’s samadhi. He then shared two pictures on his social media handle X.

One of these pictures is from his childhood. Posting the picture, Rahul Gandhi wrote that his father dreamed of building an efficient, prosperous and strong India. He said he has taken all responsibility to fulfill his father’s dream and his father’s teachings, values ​​and memories will always be with him. Experts consider Rajiv Gandhi to be the chief architect of modern India.

Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi also paid tributes to the former prime minister. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge was also present on the occasion and paid tribute by recalling old words of Rajiv Gandhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently on a foreign tour, also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on social media.

Rajiv Gandhi was killed in an LTTE suicide bombing on May 21, 1991, while campaigning in Sriperambudur, Tamil Nadu. The court found seven people guilty and sentenced them to death for their involvement in the incident. The convicts are Marugan, Santhan, Perarivalan, Jayakumar, Ravichandran, Robert Payas and Nalini. Later, they were sentenced to life imprisonment instead of death sentence with the intervention of Sonia Gandhi. Finally, they were all released soon after 33 years in prison.
