ITBP campaign is a rare achievement for Assamese girls


A young woman from Lakhimpur has conquered the world’s highest peak Mount Everest, proving that with unwavering will and concentration, you can reach your goals despite all challenges. Rupmani Garh became the first 14-member climber to set foot on the summit of Everest and hoist the tricolor as part of a mountaineering expedition by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on Friday morning. This young woman from a simple farmer family of Lakhimpur has made the entire state and country proud.

Rupmani, the second daughter of Jai Singh Gad and Kamalavati Gad, a Na-gaon stone farmer of Kadam area near Lakhimpur town, joined the ITBP in Rupmani, who is currently working in Haryana, was selected for a special mountaineering expedition organized by the ITBP. After rigorous training and preparation, the team finally reached their destination on Friday morning. After successfully climbing the peak, the team descends safely to the base camp from where Rupmani shares the good news with her parents. The daughter’s achievement is indeed an emotional and proud moment for her parents who support their family through farming with limited resources.

Roopmani and his colleagues are currently safe at the base camp and will return to their respective workplaces after completing the formalities. This success of the girl from Lakhimpur proves that nothing can stop her dreams from coming true if she has a strong mind.
