Man Kills Father After Dispute Over Money in Assam’s Lanka


 

GUWAHATI: A shocking incident has been reported from Lanka town in Assam’s Hojai district, where a man is accused of killing his father after an argument over money.

The incident occurred in the Langkapatti area of Ward No. 4 under Lanka. The deceased has been identified as Uttam Chakraborty.

Speaking to GPlus, an official of Lanka Police Station said, “The accused, Raj Chakraborty, had been struggling with alcohol addiction and gambling for a prolonged period.” Family members had allegedly been facing frequent disturbances due to his behaviour.

Tensions within the household are said to have escalated over Raj's repeated demands for money. On the day of the incident, an argument reportedly broke out between the father and son after Uttam Chakraborty refused to provide him with money. The altercation allegedly turned violent, resulting in a fatal assault.

Uttam Chakraborty sustained severe injuries during the attack and later succumbed to them.

Following the incident, Raj Chakraborty surrendered before the Lanka Police Station.

Police personnel reached the scene soon after and launched an investigation into the case. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
