Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary Sees Rise in Tourist Footfall, Earns Over ₹81.5 Lakh in 2025-26


 

GUWAHATI: Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary recorded a rise in tourist arrivals during the 2025-26 financial year, reflecting continued interest in one of Assam’s most prominent wildlife destinations.

According to forest department officials, the sanctuary received 35,242 tourists during the financial year, an increase from 34,437 visitors recorded in the previous year. The figures indicate a steady growth in footfall at the sanctuary, which is known for its population of the Indian one-horned rhinoceros.

Officials said the sanctuary generated a revenue of ₹81.58 lakh during the 2025-26 financial year through tourism-related activities.

The sanctuary also witnessed a notable number of international visitors, with 676 foreign tourists visiting during the year.

Speaking to GPlus, forest officials confirmed the figures and attributed the positive response to the sanctuary's wildlife attractions and growing popularity among domestic and international travellers.

Located in Assam’s Morigaon district, Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary remains one of the state's key eco-tourism destinations and continues to attract visitors interested in wildlife tourism and conservation.
