GUWAHATI: Jeep safari services at Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary will remain closed from May 25 for the tourist session 2025–26 due to inclement weather and prevailing road conditions, according to a general notice issued by the Office of the Divisional Forest Officer, Guwahati Wildlife Division.
The notification, dated May 19, stated that the closure of safari operations was being enforced at the wildlife sanctuary in view of adverse weather conditions and the condition of roads within the reserve.
The notice, however, did not specify any timeline for the reopening or resumption of jeep safari services at Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary.
Located in Assam’s Morigaon district near Guwahati, the sanctuary is widely known for its population of the Indian one-horned rhinoceros and remains a major wildlife tourism destination in the state.
