The Vijay government in Tamil Nadu could end at any moment. DMK chief MK Stalin has claimed that the fall of the TVK government in Tamil Nadu is only a matter of time. He instructed the party to prepare for the elections soon. According to Stalin, the Allies did not like the way the TVK government was running and hence it could not last long.
According to sources, Stalin has directed his secretariat to prepare for the elections from now on. He said that if the court or the Speaker revokes the posts of 25 AIADMK MLAs supporting Vijay, the allies can withdraw their support to Vijay’s party at any time. In fact, Vijay’s government is supported from outside by two leftist parties and the VC. In fact, these parties are allies of DMK and controlled by Stalin for so long. So if he wants these parties can withdraw their support from the Vijay government and the government will fall at any moment.
118 seats are required for a majority in the 234-seat Tamil Nadu Assembly. However, no party or alliance could touch this number. Despite emerging as the single largest party in the assembly elections, the winning party, TVK, was far from the magic number. The winning party won 108 seats. Since Vijay himself won two seats, they have 107 MLAs. Five Congress MLAs supported the TVK party. Besides, four MLAs from two Left parties also stood by Vijay. Vijay was later sworn in as Chief Minister with the support of the VK and the Muslim League. He had a total of 120 MLAs, which is not comfortable for running the government. Also AIADMK MLA also supported Vijay.
Stalin believes that rebel AIADMK MLAs will soon be stripped of their seats. Even if the speaker does not, the court can revoke the post. This will destabilize Vijay’s government and may collapse at any moment. In that case there will be re-election in Tamil Nadu long before the term ends. DMK will not try to form the government with the support of any other party. He said, the party should be ready for the elections from now.
