Telapoka Janata Party account suddenly disappears from social media: political pressure or something else?

The satirical political party Telapoka Janata Party (CJP) that has created a stir in the internet world has faced setbacks recently. The team’s official page suddenly disappeared from Instagram last night after millions of people joined and billions of views over the past few days. The incident created a stir on social media. Many have claimed that the account was hacked due to the page’s popularity in a short period of time or that the meta authority temporarily closed or suspended it due to political pressure.

According to reports, CJP’s Instagram account has disappeared or been temporarily closed at least a few times since last night. But surprisingly, despite this confusion, the number of followers of the page grew very quickly. While the account had around 9 million followers last night, it has now surpassed 11 million despite all the setbacks. Some Internet users believe that the large number of people gathered on the page may cause technical errors. However, there is no official evidence that the account has been completely closed or hacked as the page is currently active again.

CJP founder and 30-year-old Boston University student Abhijit Deepak expressed his anger in a video message. He directly targeted the government and questioned why their social media accounts were being targeted for speaking out about youth rights or expressing dissent. “When China intrudes into our territory, no action is taken but the government is trying to silence the voices of the youth like us,” he said.

He also directly criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and asked why people consider Modi as the strongest and bravest Prime Minister? Challenged by Deepak, if the Prime Minister is really so powerful, then he should hold an open press conference and face tough questions. However, he urged the youth not to fall under such online barriers or political pressure, saying that this movement was born out of the anger of ordinary youth and will continue with their support.

The CJP was formed after Chief Justice Surya Kant made a remark on May 15 about some unemployed youth. With slogans of secular, socialist, democratic and lazy, the platform mainly depicts important issues like NEET controversy, question paper leak, unemployment issue and freedom of speech through memes and funny jokes. There has been no official comment from Meta or Instagram authorities on the temporary issue, but the way the cockroach power has grown in strength over time has added a new dimension to Indian politics.
