The Hind Rajab Foundation, a Belgian investigative agency working to bring legal action against those accused of war crimes in Gaza, has filed an urgent complaint with the Indian government. The petition calls for the immediate arrest of Israeli reservist Etan Gilboa, who is currently taking refuge in Himachal Pradesh, India. This statistic was revealed in a report by Al Jazeera.
The agency said it had submitted a detailed and thorough investigation report against Israeli reserve soldier Etan Gilboa. The foundation claims that the report contains concrete evidence that Gilboa, as a reservist in the Israeli army, planned and celebrated the planned destruction of entire residential areas in Gaza as a retaliatory measure. They said the act constituted a war crime under the 1960 Geneva Convention.
The agency said in its complaint that as a signatory to the Geneva Convention, regardless of the nationality of persons charged with serious crimes under Article 146 of the Convention,ैIndia has a legal obligation to find and prosecute people. According to the human rights group, Israeli reserve troops are currently stationed in a village in Himachal Pradesh. Diab Abu Jahzah, director general of Hind Rajab Foundation strongly opposed Gilboa’s position, saying that Etan Gilboa is not an ordinary tourist but a war criminal who has escaped the legal consequences of his crimes and is currently enjoying India’s hospitality.
