Dr. Bhabendra Nath Shaikia’s novel Moram Deuta. The novel is based on the latest film directed by Himjyoti Talukdar. The film is jointly written by Himjyoti Talukder, Shantanu Raumuria and Abhishek Dutta. The film was released on 15 May and is still playing in various theaters in Assam. The film is produced by Mamata Mohilari.
The film begins with a scene of excitement. The movie then goes into flashback. A small family consisting of mother, father, son and daughter. His father is away on business. An atmosphere of anxiety at home from the start. The root of all the turmoil is his son Parth. Parth even mentally abuses his mother and physically abuses his sister over a small matter. They were the ones who kept their marriage going. One day father came home noticing more unrest. The next part of the film is about what happens after arrival. This is a very beautiful story. The pace of the story is smooth. Ever since his father’s character came into the film, the pace of the script slowed down a lot. This weakness in the screenplay makes the film enjoyable but not enjoyable. A picture with a lot of potential is also not attractive. There is no emotion in any part of the film. The acting could have been one of the strongest parts of the film. But the actors did not get much chance to show their skills. Bodhisattva Sharma’s performance as Parth is average, though could have been better. Same goes for Mintu Barua’s character. There is no doubt that Aparna Dutta Choudhury and Mintu Barua’s relationship and the complexity of her son Parth’s relationship could have been emphasized more. Then the last part would have been more interesting. The background music did not accompany the film well. Editing is poor.
In short, the novel was not a success.
