The number of women internet users in the country has increased dramatically, according to a new national survey


The number of women internet users in India has increased significantly. According to the recently published sixth National Family Health Survey, Between 2019 and 2021 yOnly 33.3 percent of women use the Internet, Now, in 2023-24, this number has almost doubled to 64.3 percent. This indicates a major shift in the growing use of digital media among women in the country.

It’s not just the internet, Women’s bank accounts and use of their own mobile phones have also increased. In an earlier survey, 78.6 percent of women had bank accounts, It has now increased to 89 percent. Also, the number of women owning mobile phones increased from 53.9 percent to 63.6 percent. The monthly health practice rate among women aged 15 to 24 also increased from 77.6 percent to 79.2 percent. Awareness has increased due to various government schemes and affordable sanitary products, the Union Health Ministry said.

According to the sources of the Ministry of Health, This report covers maternal and child health, It reflects a positive image in terms of nutrition and women empowerment. But there are also some new challenges. Lifestyle diseases and obesity are on the rise. This requires awareness and emphasis on healthy eating. Despite all this, India is on track to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The survey was conducted in 2023-24 by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in collaboration with the International Institute of Population Sciences, Mumbai. About 6.79 lakh households in 715 districts of the country were included in the survey. The information obtained will help in the implementation of various projects and programs at the district level in the future.
