A protest was organized by the Students Federation of India (SFI) in front of Nehru Park in Guwahati on 16 May 2013, 16 May 2013, 16 May 2013, 16 May 2013, 16 May 2013. However, the peaceful and democratic march of the students was mercilessly stopped by the police force.

The protesters alleged that there were widespread irregularities in the examinations conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) since 2018. This time the same happened in the case of NEET exam and the future of lakhs of brilliant students is in darkness due to deliberate leak of question papers. According to SFI, many leaders and political leaders of the ruling BJP are directly involved in the entire scam, which has destroyed the dreams of students from poor and middle class families for their political and financial interests.

The SFI made three main demands to the government through the protest. First, the NTA, which was formed to deprive the states of their right to education and centralize education, should be abolished immediately. Secondly, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should immediately resign from his post, accepting the moral responsibility for this failure. They demanded a high-level probe into the NIT question paper leak and strict punishment of all BJP leaders, political leaders and exam mafia involved.

The union said that the students who have prepared for the examination after spending a lot of effort, sacrifice and money are suffering from extreme stress and depression due to such scams by the government. SFI Assam State Committee President Dewan Iptikar Hussain and Secretary Rajdeep Mohanty clarified that the government cannot suppress the voice of students by intimidating the police. This anti-student policy of the government will not be tolerated under any circumstances and warned that the struggle of the students will continue until their just demands are met.
