About 100 scientists of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) have taken voluntary retirement in a short time. In view of this situation, the central government has made some changes in the voluntary retirement rules. The Union Space Ministry issued new directives in July to the UR Rao Satellite Center and the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre.Because these two centers have the largest number of scientists leaving the job.
As per central guidelinesThe resignation of scientists and technicians in groups involved in spacecraft and other critical missions will no longer be taken lightly. Earlier only the directors of different centers of ISRO could accept the resignations of scientists. However, the new directive has taken away this power from them and henceforth only the Central Space Department will decide on the matter. According to the directive, the mid-way departure of critical missions has resulted in severe damage to spacecraft and other projects, which is against the national interest.
Veteran scientist Victor Joseph T is one of the latest scientists to leave ISRO. He is Geo at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centerwas working as the project director for the Synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark 3. The new guidelines have already been sent to other centers under ISRO like Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre, Space Applications Center and National Remote Sensing Centre.
Now the question arisesWhy is there a sudden wave of resignations in ISRO? According to experts, many new private companies are entering space research in India. These companies are ready to offer higher salaries, higher positions and work freedom to scientists. This is why many great scientists have left ISRO.
