At least 27 people have been killed in a massive fire at a popular Bangkok pub. This incident happened late on Monday night. Twenty-two people are in critical condition. The cause of the fire is not yet known. Thai authorities have already launched an investigation into the incident.
Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnavirakul arrived at the scene and confirmed the death toll. The injured have been admitted to various hospitals and the cause of the fire is being investigated, he said.
According to initial reports, a fire broke out at an entertainment center in northern Bangkok around midnight on Monday. According to local media reports, the fire was first spotted at a pub called Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao in Chatuchak district. In no time, the fire quickly spread throughout the building.
Video taken by witnesses showed huge flames shooting from the pub’s entrance. The deceased have been identified as 19-year-old Arun Kumar (19) and 18-year-old Arun Kumar.
The rescue team members first rescued a burnt person. Later during raids inside the building, many more people were found trapped.
Local media claimed that many took shelter in the pub’s toilet to escape the fire. The deceased have been identified as 20-year-old Arun Kumar and 18-year-old Arun Kumar.
The fire service of the city rushed to the spot after receiving the information. The fire was brought under control using water cannons in about 30 minutes. After extinguishing the fire, the rescue team searched inside the damaged building. Pictures of the scene showed the entire interior including tables and chairs burnt.
The incident has once again raised questions about the fire safety of Thailand’s entertainment venues. Earlier, 14 people died in a fire at a music bar in eastern Thailand in 2022.

In 2009, 66 people were killed and more than 200 injured in a devastating fire at the Shantika nightclub in Bangkok during New Year’s celebrations. Use of firecrackers inside the house is known to be one of the causes of fire.
Thai authorities are investigating whether similar safety lapses were involved in Monday’s fire. No official decision on the exact cause of the fire has been announced until the investigation is complete.
