DB stock scam villain Dipankar Burman gets bail

Dipankar Burman, the prime accused and villain of the DB stock scam, has finally been granted bail. Dipankar, accused of embezzlement of Rs 400 crore, got bail by the High Court after a major mistake by the CBI.

According to the rules, Section 48 requires immediate notification of a relative or friend when a person is arrested. But the CBI made a serious mistake in this regard. Instead of a relative, they gave a notice to an ex-employee of Dipankar Burman and covered it up. Dipankar got bail from the court due to CBI’s mistake.

Dipankar was arrested on charges of embezzling money in the state through DB stock broking consultancy. Dipankar, who was absconding, was arrested by the Guwahati police after the scam came to light. The CBI later took over the investigation and the ED had already seized many of his properties. Even though the court granted bail, Dipankar could not be released from jail for a long time due to lack of proper bail. Finally the DB stock is released to the owner after completing all the processes.
