The Assam Police has booked several youths without bail for participating in solidarity programs in various parts of the state, including Guwahati, in support of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation and Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike. Democratic Youth Federation of India and All India Youth Federation Assam State Committee have expressed grief over the police action. Both organizations demanded immediate withdrawal of the case.
According to sources, the police have registered a case against six Guwahati youths and two youths, Chinmoy Deka and Mustahid Ahmed, who participated in the satyagraha called by the SFIA at the Chachal protest site. The victims were three youths from Biranchi Bora in Nagaon and Laluk in Lakhimpur district.
The two organizations said one of the decisions in talks between the protest leadership in Delhi and the central government was to withdraw cases filed against protesters in other parts of the country, including Delhi. However, despite the decision being made public, the Assam Police is yet to withdraw the cases filed against the protesters.
The Assam State Committee of DYFI and AIYF accused the police of playing this role as a gross insult to the understanding and respectful decision between the central government and the protesters. Therefore, both the organizations have demanded the government to immediately withdraw all the cases filed against the agitators.

Meanwhile, as of this writing there is no official response from the Assam Police or the administration regarding the next steps in the cases filed against the protesting youth.
