GUWAHATI: A jewellery shop owner was allegedly robbed by three bike-borne miscreants near Borbari in Guwahati on Friday night, August 7, while he was returning home.

The incident took place around 9.10 PM near the police point at Borbari Chariali.
According to the victim, Nandan Karmakar, the three accused approached him from behind on a motorcycle and allegedly struck him with a rod, causing him to fall by the roadside. He alleged that the attackers then kicked him and threatened to shoot him.
“I fell down on the roadside. They kicked me again. One of them said, ‘Shoot him.’ I saw a pistol in their hands,” Karmakar told the media.
The victim, who owns Kusum Jewellery, said the miscreants allegedly fled with around ₹70,000–₹80,000 in cash and jewellery weighing approximately five to six tolas.
Police reached the spot after being informed and have launched an investigation into the incident. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined to identify the accused.
A police official from Dispur Police Station confirmed the incident to GPlus and said the victim’s scooty had been recovered.
The investigation is underway.
