GUWAHATI: A 22-year-old labourer was killed after a concrete roof collapsed on him while he was working at a house in Assam's Sivasagar district on Tuesday, June 30.

The deceased has been identified as Kalam Ali, a resident of Chintamonigarh under Gaurisagar Police Station.
According to police, the incident took place at the residence of a man identified as Dhurbo in Bhaluka Guri village under Demow. Kalam Ali was engaged in construction work when a portion of the concrete roof suddenly gave way, trapping him underneath.
Locals rushed to the spot and rescued the injured worker before taking him to Civil Hospital and later he was shifted to the district hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Speaking to GPlus, an official from Gaurisagar Police Station said, "We received information about the incident around 12:30 pm. After reaching the spot, we completed the necessary legal formalities, and the body has been handed over to the deceased's family."
Police are looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
