GUWAHATI: A 22-year-old woman was found hanging inside her rented accommodation in Guwahati's Silpukhuri area on Tuesday morning, July 14, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Neha Saikia, originally from Orang in Assam's Udalguri district.
According to officials from Chandmari Police Station, the room was locked from the inside when the body was discovered.
"The body was recovered from the room. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide as the room was locked from inside," a police official said.
Police recovered the body and sent it to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Meanwhile, Saikia's family members have reached Guwahati. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident, and further details are awaited.
