West Bengal politics is currently a topic of discussion across the country. Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee’s wealth took a new turn. The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has issued notices to 17 addresses linked to Abhishek Banerjee. The notice directs the municipal corporation to submit all necessary documents related to the construction of its property.
According to the municipal corporation, there are allegations of illegal construction against several buildings without prescribed maps or drawings. The corporation has taken this action under section 400(1) of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Act, the notification clearly states that parts constructed without permission or outside the prescribed plan must be removed within seven days. If not, the concerned party will have to answer why action will not be taken against them.
powIn this notice, the Corporation has also sought information on building plan approvals, permissions for additional construction and permissions taken for facilities like lifts or escalators. The Corporation has also clarified that if no satisfactory reply is received, the Corporation itself will demolish the illegal portions and all costs will be recovered from the property owner.
All the properties against which notices have been issued are located in important locations like Harish Mukherjee Road, Kalighat Road, Panditya Road, Premendra Mitra Sarani and Ustad Amir Khan Sarani. Some of these properties are associated with Abhishek Banerjee’s family and their company, Leaps and Bounds Pvt. Some of these properties are owned by Abhishek Banerjee himself and he is a partner in others.
