Assam Plans 4-Km Cultural Corridor in Guwahati to Welcome Global Dignitaries


 

GUWAHATI: As Assam prepares to host international delegates and dignitaries, the state government has announced plans to transform the route from Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport to Dharapur into a vibrant cultural corridor showcasing the state's rich heritage and traditions.

Sharing the announcement on social media platform X, Assam Cabinet Minister Bimal Borah said that the approximately 4-kilometre stretch will be developed as a "living tapestry" of Assam's civilisation, offering visitors an immersive glimpse into the state's cultural identity.

According to Borah, the corridor will feature performances and displays representing Assam's diverse cultural traditions, with music, dance and other traditions narrating the story of the state to the world. The initiative aims to highlight Assam's rich heritage, diversity and unique identity as global guests arrive in the state.

The announcement comes as Assam gears up for a major international engagement in the first week of July, with dignitaries from Japan expected to visit the state.
