Assam Reshuffles In-Charge Principals of GMCH and NMCH


 

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has reshuffled the leadership of two state-run medical colleges, swapping the in-charge principals of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and Nalbari Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) with immediate effect.

According to a notification issued on Monday, July 6, by the Medical Education and Research Department, Prof. (Dr.) Achyut Chandra Baishya, Professor in the Department of SPM (Community Medicine) at GMCH and Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent (I/c), has been posted as the Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent (I/c) of Nalbari Medical College and Hospital until further orders.

The notification states that Baishya has been relieved of his charge at GMCH with immediate effect.

In a corresponding order, Prof. (Dr.) Babul Kumar Bezbaruah, Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent (I/c) of NMCH, has been posted as the Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent (I/c) of GMCH with immediate effect and until further orders.

Bezbaruah has also been relieved of his charge at NMCH with immediate effect, the notification said.

The orders were issued by the Medical Education and Research Department in the interest of public service and will remain in force until further orders.
