GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet has approved the issuance of OBC Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificates to eligible persons belonging to communities included in the State List of OBCs but not in the Central List of OBCs for Assam.

The certificates will be issued in a prescribed State format and will enable eligible applicants to avail themselves of benefits in Assam government jobs and state-run educational institutions, subject to fulfilment of the prescribed creamy layer criteria.
The decision specifically covers communities recognised as OBCs under Assam’s State List but not included in the Central List of OBCs for the state.
The certificates will be applicable for availing benefits under the state government framework.
