GUWAHATI: The government of Assam will carry out a three layered detailed assessment for the Assam flood response, said CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday, August 12. He also affirmed that the state has no shortage of funds to deal with the aftermath of the flood that has claimed more than 100 lives and multiple districts.

CM Sarma also added that PM Modi has instructed that no undeserving persons shall get the benefits of the flood response. Hence the cross checking is important.
Further the CM explained that the assessment will be conducted via the portal and app facilitated by the Union Government.
Notably the government has rolled out a purpose-built digital tool called the Rapid Assessment Survey of Flood Damage and Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA). About 170 officials across four flood-hit districts are using the app to record damage to houses, property and other assets in real time, replacing paper-based surveys, with surveyors capturing geo-tagged photographs of every affected house to improve transparency and accuracy.
The government has also decided October of this year as the deadline for the flood response compensation. “Our target is to help people before durga puja” said CM Sarma.
