The first foundation day of All Assam Writers’ Conference Committee, Dwarkanagar Branch was successfully held today at Dwarkanagar Shishu Park Grounds. The conference was inaugurated by President Pratibha Devi who hoisted the flag and explained to the members how Sadao Assam Writers Samaroh Samity was started.
The guests were welcomed in the meeting under the chairmanship of Vice President Vinita Dutta. The meeting began with a collective song titled “Chir Chenehi Mor Bhasha Janani” by the women of the branch. Branch Advisor Anita Sharma lit the lamp on the portrait of late Padma Shri Dr. Sheela Barthakur and Executive President Parul Devi offered the wreath.
The meeting was inaugurated by Shewali Bhagwati, Secretary of Writers’ Conference Committee, President of Kamrup Mahanagar District Committee.
Dr Tanay Jyoti Duara, Associate Professor, Pandu College, delivered a theoretical lecture on “Reality, Illusion and Narrative of Inner Life: Women; Creator and Seer”. He said, 3500 years ago, both men and women lived equally in animal husbandry. Later, with the creation of Manusanhita, the dominance of male-dominated society increased and women became subservient to fathers, husbands and sons by performing the duties of housewives. After many years, especially after the arrival of the British in India, efforts were made to emancipate women. Nowadays, women have advanced considerably, making themselves equally suitable for all jobs as men.
Arunima Dutta and Santana Das, representatives of Hengrabari and Chachal branches respectively, were present in the seminar. Writer Dr. Bhupen performed Hazarika’s song “Manuhe Manuh Ke Liye” and Holi song.

President Pratibha Devi explained the progress of the Writers’ Conference Committee’s work since 1974 and how it has achieved its goal of advancing women by establishing branches not only in Assam but in different parts of India. There are many ways to get a job. The meeting ended with Assamese music performance by all the participants.
