The Delhi High Court has referred the defamation case between TV Today senior journalist Anjana Om Kashyap and popular teacher Faizal Khan alias Khan Sir for arbitration. Hearing the case, Justice Tushar Rao Gedela said that the dispute can be resolved by mutual consent of both parties. The court ordered the case to be listed for arbitration at 4 pm on Thursday. The court made it clear that the damage that was supposed to be done had been done, So both sides should now move towards a peaceful solution without escalating the dispute.
During the hearing, the Delhi High Court said it felt that both sides could resolve the issue through negotiations. The Court believes that the assistance of an experienced mediator can lead to a positive understanding in this matter. The court appointed senior advocate Rajasekhar Rao as the arbitrator in the case. The judge also said that sometimes something should not be said and there should be a limit to criticizing someone. He points out that the reactions may be due to what was said earlier, However, they were also inappropriate in using such language and it would be better to remove those offending passages.
During the hearing, Anjana Om Kashyap and the TV Today Network said that the posts made by some teachers on social media tarnished their image. Their lawyers applied for an interim injunction on the post. It is also alleged that the journalist’s family is being threatened with death after Khan revealed the name of the journalist’s children’s school. So they demanded to delete all information related to children from social media as soon as possible.
Khan told the court that information regarding Anjana Om Kashyap’s children was shared on social media, All of that will be removed soon. Their lawyers say the children should be kept out of the entire dispute. They also told the court that it is not just for them, Rather, Anjana Om Kashyap should not say anything that could escalate the controversy, It needs to be looked into.
The whole debate started after the live debate program on NEET exam. During the discussion, Anjana Om Kashyap allegedly made harsh comments against some teachers who teach online., After that several teachers along with Khan sir responded on social media. Anjana Om Kashyap and TV Today network have filed a Rs 2 crore defamation suit against the teacher and demanded removal of offensive words and posts from social media.
