After the shocking attack on an ASU leader at Gangapur in Nalbari district on Saturday, main accused Roz Ali was injured in an encounter with the Assam Police at Mukalmua on Monday (June 1).
The accused was shot dead by the police when he tried to escape. Golap Ali was shot in the leg.
The deceased has been identified as Roz Ali, who fled from the spot after killing Madhurya Burman.
The name of the deceased is Roz Ali (28) of Narsinghpur. He was shot dead by police when he tried to grab his gun. A large party of police has arrived at Mukalmua Char. The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The incident took place on Saturday night when 19-year-old Madhurya Barman was killed and 18-year-old Mridumudra Deka was seriously injured. The attack took place when Mukalmuir was riding a scooter near Gangapur. The victim’s name is Madhurya Burman (28) of Narsinghpur, Roz Ali stabbed him to death.
The deceased is Madhurya Burman, resident of Balipathar, Chamta and assistant general secretary of West Nalbari Regional Student Union. The injured person was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries and is currently undergoing treatment in the Guwahati Medical College Hospital ICU.
Roz Ali and Ashiq Ali are alleged to have carried out the attack. The incident took place around 10:30 pm when the police launched an intensive search operation and confronted Roz Ali.
This incident has created widespread anger across the state. Some local organizations and residents alleged that the attack was linked to the girl’s rejection of a proposal by one of the accused. These organizations described the incident as an example of “love jihad” but police have not officially confirmed any such motive and are still investigating.
