Late Assamese singer Pami Barthakur has filed a serious complaint in court. “The opposing lawyers are constantly trying to prove Zubin Garg as an alcoholic in the court,” he told reporters after questioning in the court on Tuesday. He lamented that it is really sad that a man who established Assam in the world arena has been declared an alcoholic in court. “If Zubin was really like that, when did he have time to write or compose so many songs?” He also asked how he managed to work for Assamese cinema, help people and participate in so many programs in his 52 years of life. He lamented the defense’s efforts to prove that Zubin Garg was drunk for 24 hours completely forgetting his artistic and social contribution.
The defense has also raised questions about Zubin Garg’s personal life. They claim that Zubin is hardly at home and spends most of his time outside. Pomi Barthakur cried several times during the four-five day interrogation. He is mentally broken by the repeated discussion of his brother’s death or murder and seeing the accused in front of him, but controlling his emotions he sticks to his position and his evidence. When asked if he was mentally weak enough to change or silence his statement during interrogation, he replied yes. He said some questions were asked to make him emotional while talking about his brother’s murder, but he told the media that he successfully overcame all these challenges.
