The unrest has increased again in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Thousands of people have died due to the brutality of Pakistani forces. The Pakistani army has even been accused of firing indiscriminately on protesters protesting the arrest of more than 600 human rights activists.
Leaders of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir have written to India seeking help. He even demanded that ordinary citizens be allowed to go to India if the situation worsens
According to sources, they were protesting for basic rights of residents of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and demanding the release of detained human rights activists. Women and children also participated in the protest. However, Pakistani troops tried to disperse the protesters and even fired indiscriminately.
Meanwhile, a massive protest march at Eidgah Maidan last week saw ordinary people chanting slogans like ‘Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is not part of Pakistan’ and ‘We want independence’, a movement opposed to Pakistan’s long-standing political control over the region.
Joint Awami Action Committee (JAC) leader Sardar Aman Khan released a video announcing his close ties with India. He claimed that Islamabad had launched a massive crackdown on protests and imposed an economic blockade on the region.
The JAC leader even appealed to New Delhi for help and requested to open the border. He argued that ordinary citizens should be allowed to travel to India if the situation worsens.
“We need India’s help. There is a shortage of rations. We need your help. Residents of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir are facing food and medicine shortages as security forces intensify operations against protesters,” he said.
He even warned: “If the authorities open fire in response to people’s demands, we have other options. But in future Pakistan may regret the consequences.”
