Truck-Motorcycle Collision in Guwahati's Six Mile Triggers Public Outrage, Driver Detained


 

GUWAHATI: A road accident involving a motorcycle and a truck sparked tension in Guwahati's Six Mile area on Tuesday evening, June 9, leading to a brief period of unrest before police intervened.

According to eyewitnesses, a motorcycle was involved in a collision with a truck. The impact left the rider seriously injured, while the pillion passenger escaped without injuries. The injured rider reportedly sustained a leg fracture and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The incident drew a large crowd to the accident site, with several locals alleging negligence on the part of the truck driver. As emotions ran high, the situation turned chaotic, with angry bystanders surrounding the vehicle.

Reports indicate the truck driver, identified as Nageswar Rai, a resident of Bihar, was confronted by members of the crowd and allegedly forced to apologise. During the commotion, the truck's windshield was damaged by enraged individuals, further escalating tensions in the area.

Police personnel soon arrived at the scene and managed to disperse the crowd. The driver was taken into custody as a precautionary measure while authorities began investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
