GUWAHATI: South Central Railway has suspended a staff member and ordered a departmental inquiry after a viral video showed a First AC cabin of the Nandigram Express decorated with balloons, flowers and rose petals, drawing attention online as a "honeymoon coach."
According to the Railways, a couple travelling on Train No. 11002 Nandigram Express on July 6 had privately hired an online decorator to decorate their First AC coupe. The decorator allegedly entered the coach without authorisation at Jalna station, an act the Railways termed a "serious lapse."
The Railway administration said the concerned staff member has been placed under suspension pending the inquiry. The private decorator has also been booked under provisions of the Railway Act for unauthorised entry into the train, travelling without a ticket and trespassing.
The Railways said further action will be taken based on the findings of the departmental inquiry.
