GUWAHATI: A 61-year-old man is in critical condition after he was allegedly transfused with the wrong blood type at Dhubri Medical College and Hospital, triggering allegations of medical negligence and prompting calls for an investigation.

According to reports, the patient, whose blood group is 'O' positive, was allegedly administered 'B' positive blood during treatment. The alleged mismatch reportedly led to severe health complications, and the patient is currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The incident has raised serious concerns over patient safety and the protocols followed during blood transfusions at the government-run hospital. Family members and others have demanded a thorough inquiry into the circumstances that led to the alleged error.
Speaking to GPlus, officials at the Dhubri Police Headquarters confirmed that they are aware of the incident. However, they said that no formal complaint has been filed so far and that police are gathering further information about the case. They said that if more official statements from the hospital or the patient's family become available, they can be added to provide a balanced and comprehensive report.
