Stolen Motorcycle Recovered in Assam’s Barpeta, One Arrested


 

GUWAHATI: The Palashbari Police recovered a stolen motorcycle and apprehended the accused involved in the theft, officials said on Friday, May 15.

According to police, an FIR was lodged by one Pradip Choudhury on May 11 regarding the theft of his two-wheeler motorcycle. The motorcycle was stolen on May 10 at around 6 PM.

Based on the complaint, Palashbari Police Station registered a case numbered 113/26 under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 (theft in a dwelling house, or means of transportation or place of worship, etc), and launched an investigation into the incident.

During the course of the investigation, police successfully traced and recovered the stolen motorcycle from the Alopati Char Police Station area in Barpeta district.

Police also apprehended the accused identified as Rakibul Islam (22), son of Abdul Mazid, a resident of Kadamtola village in Fakirpara, Barpeta district.

Officials stated that with assistance from Alopati Char Police Station, both the accused and the recovered motorcycle were brought to Palashbari Police Station for further legal procedures.

The accused will be produced before the competent court as per legal provisions, police added.
