Assam Approves ₹450 Crore for BTC, Aadhaar Relaxation for Moran and Matak Communities, Agri Tax Relief


 

GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet approved the release of ₹450 crore to the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) as the first instalment of the SOPD-G fund for 2026-27 to undertake developmental works.

The Cabinet meeting was held at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Dispur on Tuesday evening, August 11.

The Cabinet also approved a relaxation for the Moran and Matak communities from the restriction on fresh Aadhaar enrolment for applicants aged 18 years and above in Assam. The relaxation will remain applicable until March 31, 2027.

In another key decision, the Cabinet approved the issuance of a notification under Section 3 of the Assam Agricultural Income Tax Act, 1939, along with revised tax slabs and enhanced exemption limits.

Under the revised provisions, agricultural income up to ₹10 lakh will be exempt from agricultural income tax.
