Currently, 'Pokkhi' features 372 bird species found across Assam. Each bird profile includes Assamese and English names, high-quality photographs, identification guides and conservation status.
Developed by two individuals, the platform aims to preserve indigenous Assamese bird names while making bird identification easier for students, researchers and nature enthusiasts.
'Pokkhi' also encourages citizen participation by allowing users to contribute regional bird names and bird sightings, helping expand the repository over time.
The initiative is expected to serve as a valuable resource for birdwatchers, researchers, students and conservationists while strengthening efforts to document and preserve Assam's rich bird diversity.
