According to the statement, the repatriation process is carried out in line with the Ministry of Home Affairs (Foreigners Division) circular dated May 2, 2025, and an executive order issued by the Assam government on October 29, 2025, for the implementation of the Immigrants (Expulsion from Assam) Act, 1950.

The government further clarified that it does not engage directly with any foreign country on such matters, which are handled exclusively through the Government of India.

It also stated that adequate safeguards are followed while implementing laws and directives related to citizenship and immigration to ensure that the human rights of individuals are protected.
