The Janata Party (BJP) staged a sit-in at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan after the question papers of several other exams were leaked. Their main demand is the resignation of the education minister and reform of the education system. Social activist and researcher Sonam Wangchuk is on an indefinite hunger strike at the protest site. His physical condition is said to be deteriorating due to prolonged hunger strike.
Sonam’s fast entered the 16th day on Monday. According to Telapoka Janata PartySonam’s blood pressure is currently 107/70 and she has lost more than 8 kg. Abhijit Deep, founder of the party, said the government should not take this issue as a fight of pride as people’s lives are involved. He also said that admitting one’s mistakes is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of maturity and willingness to correct mistakes.
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Group) chief Uddhav Thackeray has urged Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi to join the protest at Jantar Mantar. “I myself will go to the Telapoka Janata Party movement and Rahul Gandhi should also go there,” he said at a press conference in Mumbai on Monday. He said that everyone who has faith in the youth of the country should go to the protest and urged them to take to the streets in support of the protestors.
