The 35 new ministers in West Bengal’s first BJP government have ended speculation about which portfolios they will hold. The complete list of allotment of offices of these ministers was published on Wednesday.
The remaining 35 members of Subvendu Adhikari’s cabinet were sworn in at Lok Bhavan on Monday, June 1, in the presence of Governor RN Ravi. The function, which began with the Bande Mataram and the National Anthem, was attended by the Chief Minister himself and Chief Secretary Manoj Agarwal announced the names of the ministers. The 35 members who were sworn in on June 1 were allotted their portfolios today. Of these, 13 MLAs have been appointed as full ministers. Among them are Tapas Roy of Manikatla, Manoj Orang of Kumargram, Arjun Singh of Nawapara, Gauri Shankar Ghosh of Murshidabad, Deepak Barman of Falakata and Sharadwat Mukherjee of Bidhannagar. The other members appointed as full ministers are Arup Kumar Das of Kanthi Dakshin, Swapan Dasgupta of Rasbehari, Jagannath Chattopadhyay of Churi, Kalyan Chakraborty of Khardah, Shankar Ghosh of Siliguri, Ajay Poddar of Kulti and Dudhkumar Mandal of Mayureshwar.
Three MLAs have been appointed as independent ministers of state. They are Malati Rava Roy of Tufanganj, Rajesh Mahato of Gopiballabpur and Indranil Khan of Behala West. Besides, 19 more MLAs have been given the charge of Minister of State. The 19 ministers include Ashok Dinda of Maina, Kaushik Chowdhury of Raiganj, Jewel Murmu of Habibpur, Harekrishna Bera of Tamluk, Shantanu Pramanik of Bhagwanpur and Moumita Biswas Mishra of Burdwan Dakshin.
Other MLAs who have been given the state ministership are Umesh Roy from Howrah North, Poornima Chakraborty from Shyampukur, Bhaskar Bhattacharya from Srirampur, Diwakar Gharami from Sonamukhi, Nadiarchand Bauri from Para and Gargi Das Ghosh from Kandi. Other state ministers include Ami Kisku of Nayagram, Kalita Majhi of Aushgram, Viraj Biswas of Karandighi, Sumana Sarkar of Balagarh, Anandamoy Barman of Matigara-Nakshalbari, Vishal Lama of Kalchini and Dipankar Jana of Kakdwip.
