Many people’s mouths water when they hear the name of Biryani. In 2008, a group of Delhi chefs set a record by making the world’s largest biryani. Biryani weighed 14.06 tonnes. It was prepared by mixing thousands of kilograms of rice, meat, butter and spices. Despite being cooked in such a big pot, it didn’t lose any flavor.
Khichuri is a very common dish that we all are familiar with. But this khichuri has also created an extraordinary record. In 2017, around 50 chefs led by renowned chef Sanjeev Kapoor cooked 918 kg of khichuri at the World Food India event in Delhi. No one would have thought that the bread we eat all the time can also set a world record. In 2012, the world’s largest roti was made at a festival in Jamnagar, Gujarat. This bread weighed 145 kg. A special metal pan 3 meters long and 3 meters wide was used to bake it and many people worked together.
