Guwahati: ₹10,000 Fine Imposed for Illegally Pasting Posters on Ulubari Foot Bridge


 

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has imposed a penalty of ₹10,000 for illegally pasting posters on the Ulubari Foot Bridge, Lachit Nagar, during an enforcement drive carried out by the ASI and Supervisor of Division-IV, Byelane No. 8, Lachit Nagar.

According to an official receipt issued by GMC, the penalty was recorded under the register for "pasting posters" at the location, with the fine amount noted as Ten Thousand Rupees only.

While the enforcement action was carried out by officials of Division-IV, GMC clarified that the location actually falls under the jurisdiction of Division-II. The civic body has appealed to citizens and organizations to refrain from defacing public property and to cooperate in keeping Guwahati clean and visually appealing.

This latest action is part of GMC's broader commitment to maintaining civic discipline and safeguarding public infrastructure across the city. Officials reiterated that such enforcement drives will be carried out regularly across all divisions to deter unauthorized use of public spaces, and that the Corporation remains firm in its resolve to hold violators accountable while encouraging citizens to be active partners in keeping Guwahati clean, orderly, and visually appealing.
