GUWAHATI: Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Pawan Khera on Thursday, July 23, appeared before the CID branch of Assam Police in Guwahati in connection with a defamation case filed by Riniki Bhuyan Sharma over allegations related to a fake passport.

"I will cooperate with the investigation," Khera told reporters.
The Congress leader said he has always respected the law and would fully cooperate with the ongoing probe. He added that he had no intention to defame anyone.
Expressing faith in the judicial process, Khera said he was confident that the truth would emerge through legal proceedings and that he was ready to answer all questions put before him.
Speaking to the media, Khera termed the case politically motivated but maintained that he would cooperate with the authorities.
He added that legal notices and investigations would not deter him from raising issues or speaking on matters of public interest.
