The Commissioner of Police, Guwahati has banned all 15 examination centers for the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Joint Competitive Examination (CPSE) preliminary examination, to be held in July 2025.
The ban, issued under Section 163 of the Code of Indian Civil Security (BNSS), 2023, aims to ensure fair, just and transparent conduct of the examination and prevent any law and order problem.
More than 13,500 candidates are expected to appear for the exam at 15 centers under the Guwahati police commissioner’s office.
Under the guidelines, all persons except candidates and officials engaged in conducting and observing the examination are prohibited from entering within 100 meters radius of the examination centre.
Candidates carrying valid admit cards, examination officers, police personnel on duty and authorized representatives of APSC, district administration and government are exempted from the ban.
Police said the ban was in response to concerns over misuse of internet-based mobile applications and earlier attempts by outsiders to interfere in the conduct of recruitment examinations.
The ban will be in force throughout July Violations of the rules will be dealt with under Section 223 of the Indian Judicial Code, 2023.
